Playing a part is a series sharing insights about working at a high growth startup

Candice Ran is the marketing coordinator at Partly. She was the 6th person to join the team and has been pivotal in Partly's growth and contributes to the amazing team culture.

What is your role at Partly?

My job varies from day-to-day but in a nutshell - I operate Partly’s digital marketing campaigns. This usually includes search engine marketing (SEM), organic search optimizations and tracking marketing key KPIs, as well as delivering marketing reports to shareholders.

Tell us how you ended up at Partly?

After finishing my Masters in Marketing, I reached out to Nathan, one of the co-founders for an internship opportunity. I had always been interested in startups and wanted to get first hand experience.

In that short period of 8 months since I've joined, I've watched Partly grow from a new startup (right out of their pivot from AllGoods) to a rapidly growing start-up, finding product market fit, getting large customers from around the world and successfully raising a 1.7 million NZD in seed funding. It's been a truly amazing experience to be a part of, and I don't think I would be able to learn as much as I had in such a short time anywhere else.

What do you like about working at Partly?

What truly excites me is seeing how my work directly contributed to the growth of Partly. Through making changes and optimizing our funnel, I can see traffic increase to our website, getting more conversions, and bringing more qualified leads to the sales team. Plus we've managed to rank organically on Google, which in 2020 is easier said than done.

What have you learnt working here?

Something that's stood out to me is how Partly view their interaction with their customers. The relationships they're building is not traditional - offering a software service to get a reoccurring revenue, rather that we're almost partnering with our customers, and supporting their growth and growing with them.

Another thing I've learnt is the importance of keeping track of relevant KPI's. Having a dashboard with our important KPIs not only helped the marketing team deliver better marketing strategies, but also has been very helpful for the startup as a whole in understanding our customers needs, and have come in helpful in decision making.

What do you like about working here?

The best thing about working at Partly really is the people. The team is friendly and take time to make everyone feel welcome. They're young and ambitious, and everyone spurs each other on to do their best.
